Train in South Australia
900 Class approaching Shepherd Hill Tunnel. The 900 Class English Electric Diesel, first entered service on 10/9/1951 with the S.A.R., with 10 in the class. Those were introduced to haul the "Overland" & all heavy goods through the Adelaide Hills. In later years they were used on the Port Pirie & Peterborough lines until their withdrawal from service. Leader of the Class 900 "Lady Norrie" is preserved at the National Railway Musuem and two are with SteamRanger 907 & 909

830 & 700 class at Peterborough in July 1984. Seen here in their old S.A.R. colours. More info on 830 Class OR the 700 Class Now those Locos are owned by Australia Southern Railroad Which is a subsidiary company of Australia Railroad Group

350 Class preserved at SteamRanger When in introduced in 1949 these shunting Diesels worked around the suburban area, usually at Mile End or Adelaide. During periods of coal shortage they hauled suburban passenger trains.
